What are you into beside snowboarding?
Yoga, surfing, mountain biking, reading, dancing, exploring, thinking, coaching, my friends and family.
Something that was hard to overcome in your career (for
example, bad nerves for competitions)? If so - how did you overcome it?
Can't remember what I said here but now I am going to say besides injury, people's conception of what a woman should be doing and for how long was annoying to overcome.
Advice to the rookie girls coming up?
Always know what you want to do and follow that or you will be compromising your dreams and will feel cheated at some point. You only have one life so don't let anyone talk you in to doing things you don't want to do or let people talk you out of doing things you do want to do.
How do you imagine a pro surfers/snowboarders life?
I imagine a pro surfers life to be all about the beach and the waves. I think they must have a lot of frustrating times where there are no good waves though, just like we do when there is no good snow or the weather sucks.
Are you practising your sport the whole year through or do you need to have a break?
I usually have a couple of months off in the summer as I need the time for my body to recover from all the slams I take in the winter!
Do you also surf?
Yes, I surf but just as a hobby and I am not so good at it.
How do you plan your season? When is your season starting/ending?
My season starts in the summer in NZ around Aug and goes until May so it is pretty long actually.
What do you like the best on your sport?
I love the environment and the people. Mountains and the people who live in them and love them.
Could you imagine to be a pro surfer/snowboarder. If you could choose, what would you rather be?
I love the mountains so much that this is my perfect job although surfing would come a close second for sure.
Do you think ist easier to be a pro snowboarder/surfer?
I think snowboarders get more injuries for sure but I think both sports are hard in some ways.
What do you think is the hardest thing to deal with, with the other sport?
I think surfers probably have similar problems with society having a closed view on their lifestyle and what they are supposed to be like.
Words to live by.....?
You only have one life, make the most of it!!
